Hosting a fundraiser to benefit BCRF? Know the facts!
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation was founded by Evelyn Lauder in 1993 in order to provide funding for groundbreaking investigations led by some of the most visionary minds in medical research. Since its inception, BCRF has raised more than $280 million to support advanced and promising breast cancer research that will help lead to prevention and a cure in our lifetime.
In October 2009, BCRF awarded nearly $28.5 million in grants to 173 researchers from across the globe. Click for a full list of grantees.
Our administrative expenses remain at an absolute minimum. BCRF is committed to ensuring that more than 85 cents of every dollar donated supports lifesaving research and awareness programs. In fiscal 2009, our administrative expenses were only 8% of revenues.
Our efficiency has prompted several independent evaluators to award BCRF with their highest ratings. In recognition of our exceptional efficiency, the American Institute of Philanthropy has awarded BCRF with its highest rating of "A+." BCRF is the only breast cancer organization to receive this accolade; indeed, we are the only cancer organization to hold this ranking.
