the Anastacia Fund

Since being diagnosed with breast cancer in January, 2003, singer/songwriter Anastacia has become resolved to channel her energies into raising funds and awareness that will specifically target younger women who are stricken, and who have no family history of the disease.

For this purpose, the Anastacia Fund has been established through The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Anastacia's fans are among the most dedicated and inspired of any! A group in the Netherlands recently presented Anastacia with a check for 950 Euros (approx. $1,268 at the time of presentation in Mar 07) from sales of her perfume "Resurrection". The effort was spear- headed by Amber Neeck (pictured at right with Anastacia), who has created a whole website dedicated to her efforts. Read all about the fundraiser, presentation of the check to Anastacia and much, much more! We are so grateful to Amber and her group for this wonderful effort to support the Anastacia Fund!

On October 21, 2006, in Rochester, Minnesota, Anastacia, was the Keynote Presenter at the Mayo Clinic Women's Cancers 2006 Weekend Workshop, Merging Science and Care. This annual education event focuses on current topics in cancer care, promising research and ways to dealing with cancer and its effects.

Anastacia spoke about her diagnosis and the difficult months that followed, when she cried, laughed, fought, sang and wrote with a passion. She told of the way she has channeled her energies into raising funds for research and awareness specifically focused on younger women with breast cancer, by establishing the Anastacia Fund at The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Her message of purpose and survival, her no-nonsense delivery and her genuine concern for all those affected brought a well-deserved standing ovation from the more than 340 audience members.

Anastacia is concerned that women under the age of 40 are not generally targeted for breast cancer screening, self-examination and mammograms, except in situations where there is a family history of breast cancer.

She is determined to change these statistics. As a result of her own experience, Anastacia realized that her doctor's insistence that she have a mammogram actually saved her life! Her resolve to fight will never be broken and she is passionate about how she can help other young women become more in charge of their own health.

In her partnership with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Anastacia and her fans will help to raise funds for research on breast cancer in younger women--why it happens, how to prevent it, and how to treat and cure it if it does occur.
