Bunco For Breast Cancer®

Roll the Dice, Beat the Odds®

Bunco For Breast Cancer continues to amaze and inspire! The Foundation is so grateful to all the wonderful people who organize and participate in BFBC parties and events all over the country and the world! Since BCRF became the sole beneficiary of proceeds from Bunco For Breast Cancer in 2002, these energetic, committed and passionate supporters have raised an incredible total of $673,280 for breast cancer research!
For more information and downloadable materials, visit the newly-launched Bunco For Breast Cancer website! We welcome your feedback.
2008 marks Bunco For Breast Cancer's seventh year of connecting with generous bunco groups from all over the country and asking them to donate one month's game pot to breast cancer research. After all, most bunco players are women, and most breast cancer victims are also women, so the two are a natural fit.

Let it be your turn now to successfully help us raise research funds to prevent and cure breast cancer in our lifetime.

Here's how you can get involved: If you're already part of a bunco group, discuss Bunco for Breast Cancer at your next bunco party and ask members to get involved in a BFBC fundraiser. Any month that works for your group is great. At any one of your bunco parties, please donate one months "pot", plus any additional donations, to our recipient organization, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Please also include one person's name and address for follow-up communications.

When women work together we can make big things happen. We are confident that together we can make a real difference and help put an end to this disease that impacts so many women and families.

About the game
Bunco is a progressive dice game of chance, and is named for when a player rolls three 1's, which count for 21. The first pair of players to get 21 wins. The game is typically played by a group of 12, each of whom contributes to a pot that is awarded to the winners of the game. Most groups play once a month. The game's popularity has surged in recent years, extending from Wisconsin to Ohio to Arizona. There are an estimated 25,000 bunco groups in the US alone.

The idea for Bunco for Breast Cancer was started by Kerry Comstock when her friend, Mary Green, was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 1999. Their Clarendon Hills, IL, bunco group decided to donate the February 2001 pot to the fight against breast cancer. A few more bunco groups joined the cause and the event raised over $30,000. The Chicago Tribune ran a 2-page spread on this grassroots effort.

Think of Bunco for Breast Cancer as a girl's night out with a mission! Bunco for Breast Cancer is a chance to have fun with friends, roll some dice and raise money to help find a cure.
