Elburn, IL Group's 4th Annual BFBC Event raises over $18,000!

Cathy Thomas and her team had another wonderfully successful year for their 4th annual BFBC fundraiser. Their two-night event filled the hall with 192 on the first evening, and 185 on the second!

Cathy and her Elburn Bunco ladies--Char Cobb, Deb Homeseley, Cheryl Kraupse, Tracy Leach, Cindy Rowland are a diverse group. Their backgrounds include a graphic designer, a school counselor, a bank executive, two office managers, and a stay-at-home Mom, and together they mobilize the Elburn community (population approximately 3,500.) The committee ladies have developed their own game rules in which all the women are playing at the same time with 3-minute rounds.

This year Cathy reports that a breast cancer survivor gave a heart-warming speech. This lady had attended in 2006, having just finished her last treatment. She had a head covering to hide her lack of hair and asked if she could say a few words. She brought tears to everyone's eyes as she talked about finishing up her last treatment but knowing that other women would be sitting in "her chair".
This year she volunteered at the event, selling raffle tickets. She looks and feels great!

Elburn Bunco For Breast Cancer is already hard at work on the 2008 event, and is considering hosting it on a Sunday afternoon with two sessions.
