Ride For Ribbons, Ride For Women!

HOW IT WORKS:
Any equestrian rider of any discipline and any ability level can participate. Whether it's western reigning, games, dressage, hunt seat, jumpers, saddle seat, driving, or any other realm of equestrian competition, riders have a chance, through a special sponsorship scheme, to raise money for this cause.

A rider must enter or plan to compete in an equestrian competition. These shows can be rated, non-rated, or simply schooling shows. There are no restrictions about what types of shows a rider must participate in.

Every show you compete in can have sponsors. Sponsors cam include, family members, neighbors, school teachers, co-workers, local businesses, doctor's offices, etc.

The Sponsor Sheet will help you keep track of all of your sponsors and how much money they would be willing to donate after the show is over. Print out lots of copies of this form for future use at other shows.

Sponsors must fill out their name and phone number so that you have a way to contact them after the show. Sponsors must also decide how much money they would be willing to donate to you if you earned a certain ribbon. For example, one sponsor might agree to donate $20.00 if you earn a 1st place ribbon, $15.00 for a 2nd place ribbon, $10.00 for a 3rd place, $8.00 for 4th place, $5.00 for 5th place, and $3.00 for 6th place.

Make sure you explain clearly to your Sponsor all the horse show rules, especially if they aren't familiar with horse shows, so that they can make an educated choice in sponsoring you. Sponsors might also opt to donate money for reserve champion and grand champion ribbons in addition to all the other sponsor ribbons. Some donors like to simply donate $5.00, for example, for every ribbon you earn, no matter what the placement is.

Let your sponsors decide for themselves how they'd like to donate. Remember, no donation is too small and don't be upset if you dont get a blue ribbon at every show! Every little bit counts and if you don't place at a show, ask your sponsors if you can keep their donation amounts on record for the next show. Make sure you ask them first though!

Collect the money from your sponsors when the show is over. Also, after the show, take pictures of your ribbons, your horse, and yourself to prove that you earned the ribbons.

All checks should be made out to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation at the address below. When sending in your donations, be sure to mark somewhere that your efforts were through the Ride for Ribbons, Ride for Women program so that the BCRF can track our fundraising efforts!
